The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, along with the widow and children of the honoree discovered the plaque during the formal ceremony to which a hundred authorities, colleagues and friends of the former "lawyer, politician and staunch defender of Cartagena" joined.

Ana Belén Castejón also pointed out that she was "a person who, from a very young age, became involved and took an active part in the affairs of her city and was not guided more by zeal than serving the interests of her citizens".

After the discovery of the plaque, the dean of the Cartagena Bar Association, Antonio Navarro Selfa, took the floor. His daughter, Ana Belén Ruipérez Martín, was in charge of thanking on behalf of the family this distinction and counted the special illusion that had made him a few months before his death that had been proposed in 2010 as Cartagenero of the Year, a candidacy that He did not props for various circumstances, but now this nomination compensated for that, by perpetuating the memory of his father in this square.
