The counselor of Transparency, Participation and Spokesperson, Noelia Arroyo, visited today the works that are being carried out for the restoration of the facade of the church of Santa María de Gracia in Cartagena and the work on the bell tower.
In particular, it has been carried out the assembly of a structure of wood to four waters, of big dimensions, to cover the tower of the belfry, that has had to install elevating it with a crane until locating it in the roof of the tower.
The Governing Council approved the direct granting of a grant worth 300,000 euros to the Bishopric for the execution of the restoration works of the main and lateral facades of the church of Santa María, which includes the completion of the bell tower to house the important set of bells of the church, which are being restored today.
The Community has already collaborated in the restoration of church decks.
Arroyo recalled that the Community collaborates with the Diocese of Cartagena in the maintenance and restoration of the architectural assets of the city, "as in the case of the Old Cathedral with the funding of its master plan, which involved an investment of 45,000 euros or the help of 40,000 euros for the restoration of the Chapel of Socorro ".
