Francisco Martínez, councilor of CTSSP-PODEMOS, will present a motion at the next plenary session to urge the Autonomous Community, and in particular the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, to immediately close the IES Juan Sebastián Elcano Sports Pavilion by preventive, safety and public health reasons for the educational community of the institute.
In this way, the purple formation echoes the demand of the educational community, including the FAPA.
The municipal group of PODEMOS has proven that, despite the fact that its group has been denouncing the unfortunate state of the pavilion for a long time, including the last Plenum in January, neither the City Council nor the CARM have been concerned in the least by facilities that, In addition to the aged and broken cover of asbestos, it presents other not lesser dangers: humidity in the walls, broken sports equipment, changing rooms in ruinous condition and soil deterioration, among others.
The IES Juan Sebastián Elcano is a Defense Center, assigned for 99 years, like other educational centers, to the CARM.
The agreement establishes the possibility that the CARM can carry out works and the commitment to communicate it to the Defense.
Nothing justifies the delay in the removal of asbestos from the center, neglecting to date the reiterated more than justified requests made by the educational community.
Added to this is the general deterioration of all the facilities, which is the "seal of quality" that day after day the PP places on public education in the Region.
Given that the CARM does not even make a threat to adapt the facilities to be dignified and safe, the purple formation considers that the pavilion in question has to be closed urgently and preventively, so as not to put at risk the security of schoolchildren and teachers who attend the center.
