The Tennis Club of Cartagena hosted this Saturday, February 16, the Challenge Cup of tennis 'City of Cartagena', which did not miss the mayor Ana Belén Castejón and the councilors of Sports, Manolo Mora, and Commerce, Carmen Martín .
In the event, one of the longest in the national tennis, was held, since last day 10, the LXIX edition and III Male Challenge Cup and the XXIX women's edition in which more than 40 tennis players from across the national territory participated .
In the first place, the final of the Challenge Cup in the women's category was the winner Lucía Cortez against Ainoha Atucha.
For its part, in the men's category Sergio Gutiérrez beat Albert Roglan with 63 points against 60.
"Today we had a very intense sporting day and the finishing touch this morning was the Challenge Cup City of Cartagena," declared the mayor who congratulated all the participants, "we had many tennis players from the national and international scene. It has been an honor to see everyone play but, above all, it is a pride that after 26 years the women's tournament has recovered ".
Prior to the awards ceremony, a tribute was paid to Mrs. Sylvia Ortiz-Repiso Holt, the oldest member of the club and winner of the Challenge Cup in the women's category in 1974.
