IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores already has a picnic area, baskets and goals, shelves for the library and public address, among other materials, thanks to the 15,000 euros of the Participatory Budgets of the City of Cartagena.
This is what the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the Councilor for Education, Mercedes García, and the mayor of Infrastructure, Juan Pedro Torralba, have seen firsthand on their visit to the center today, Monday, February 18.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has been very satisfied with the investments made in the educational center.
"We have been perplexed to see how they have stretched that budget allocation to spend the Participatory Budgets in this institute.
My public recognition and saying that they never cease to amaze me. "
The first mayor of the city said that the students of IES San Isidoro have made history by being the first center of Secondary Education in Cartagena to be part of the Participatory Budgeting of the city.
One of the most emotional moments for the members of IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores was, according to the mayor of Cartagena, when the public address system was installed.
"They got excited and the tears came," says Ana Belén Castejón.
The first mayor said that the fact that "a City can contribute to a school everything flows more and there is a better environment makes it worth all the budgetary effort we have and we must continue doing."
The students of IES San Isidoro de Los Dolores are satisfied with the investment received from the Participatory Budgets of the City of Cartagena.
Nicolás Hernández, 1st year student of the Baccalaureate of this center, assured that the initiative with the educational centers "helps the institutes to feel represented by the Administration.
This student has highlighted the effort and coordination between all the participants to take the projects forward.
For her part, the student of the 1st year of the IES San Isidoro High School, María Mazouzi, affirmed that "it was a wonderful experience.
The most complicated were the votes, because there were many options to be given and there was little difference between one vote and another. "
The IES San Isidoro was, together with the Colegio Virgen del Carmen, the first educational center of Cartagena to be part of the Participatory Budgets set in motion by the City Council.
