The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, today exposed in the Local Employment Table the work done during the last months that has led to a new industrial situation motivated by the new naval construction contracts in Navantia.
Castejón recalled the budget allocation for the construction of S-80 submarines and, on the other, the contract with Saudi Arabia for the construction of five corvettes.
According to the mayor "this new situation will trigger new contracts in the factory and indirect employment, which will affect the various auxiliary companies in the city" and explained that in order to improve the training of candidates to fill these positions, will intensify, the "Collaborative Framework Agreement between the Agency for Local Development and Employment and the Training Center for the Industry of Cartagena for the lease of spaces in the training center of the Polígono Cabezo Beaza", signed a year ago and coordinated with Navantia, the SEF, the ADLE and the unions.
He has also pointed out the work that is being done with the INFO and with the UPCT Industrial Engineering School, in the creation of the 4.0 Industry Observatory, which is expected to start working soon.
TEN TECHNICAL TABLES
Another of the initiatives presented by the mayor and that has been well received by the members of the Local Committee has been to create ten technical working tables focused on achieving the objectives set by the Strategic Plan for Employment of the Municipality of Cartagena , approved the 31st of July.
According to the mayor, this document has served to "agree on actions to boost the economy, create more companies, promote entrepreneurship and generate economic conditions for the municipality of Cartagena to be a leader in economic development and especially in the creation of employment stable and quality ".
The Plan is composed of ten strategic lines, which are developed with specific objectives and actions for their implementation.
In addition, it establishes which entities should be involved in order to achieve the different goals set.
Castejón has proposed this morning different actions that speed up the achievement of the objectives set in each of the ten approved strategic lines, such as the establishment of ten technical work tables, one for each strategic line, which will be convened every two months, keeping the biannual call of the Employment Board.
In each of these technical tables will be the entities responsible for that Line and will be coordinated by the area of ​​Economic Strategy of the City Council.
The Local Employment Committee of the City of Cartagena met this morning in the council room of the Town Hall, presided over by the mayor.
It has been the Councilor for Economic Strategy and Employment, Carmen Martín, along with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, COEC, UGT, CCOO, SEF, INFO, spokespersons for municipal political groups, ADLE and UNED.
