The mayor of Education of the City of Cartagena, Mercedes Garcia, went yesterday, Tuesday, February 12, San Ginés School of Jara del Estrecho to supervise the taking of soil samples that will be used to develop the study of soil characterization and analysis of risk, as it was done previously in El Llano school, and in which the president of the Neighborhood Board, Carmen Soto, was also present.

As the municipal technicians have explained, the methodology is always the same and after taking the samples we proceed to measure pollutants to know if there are heavy metals, in case of detecting them, a risk analysis is done for the health of the people, in this case the children, and finally corrective measures are proposed to avoid these risks.

The study of the grounds of the school San Ginés de la Jara is being developed at the request of the neighbors and the AMPA of the center and that the City is addressing in the municipal properties.

In the same situation is the raft of sterile located next to the school of El Llano del Beal, in which the consistory has already started the file to conduct this study in collaboration with the company Portman Golf, co-owner of the land.

The raft file has been initiated at the request of the General Directorate of the Environment and Mar Menor, which took a sampling point in this field when it carried out the characterization study of the El Llano school, complementary to the one carried out at the time by the Town hall.

It should be noted that a single sampling point does not serve, in any case, to perform the study that measures the risks and can be used to propose corrective measures, which have not yet been defined, so it is necessary to address a broader study and that it complies with the provisions of the "Technical Instruction on the prevention and control of soil contamination", approved by Resolution of the Directorate General for Environment and Mar Menor.
