On Thursday, February 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Luzzy Acting Hall, the director Mabel Lozano will be at the Feminist Thought Encounters of the program of the Department of Culture 'Cartagena Piensa', presenting her latest documentary 'El proxeneta .
Paso corto, mala leche '(Spain, 2018) of which she is the director, and which is the adaptation to the cinema of the homonymous book that she published in 2017.
In these meetings, organized in collaboration with the Department of Equality, the director will make an introduction to the documentary prior to the screening and will be presented by Ana Ballabriga.
The projection is part of the programming of the Ficcmoteca de Luzzy.
Based on the book El Proxeneta (Editorial Alrevés, 2017) by Mabel Lozano, the documentary tells from the first person voice of Miguel, nicknamed "El Músico", and how one night he became every night of his life.
He began as a doorman at the age of 17 in a hostess club and ended up importing women as merchandise to supply the macro brothels that he ran together with his partners throughout the Spanish geography.
Sentenced to 27 years in prison for coercive prostitution, recruitment and exploitation of human trafficking, "El Músico" unravels the gears of the masters of prostitution and trafficking in Spain.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Known for her role as an actress and television host, Mabel Lozano began her career as director in 2007 with the documentary Voces contra la trata.
In 2010 he wrote, produced and directed the short Listen to me about trafficking in women and girls.
A year later he directed the short documentary And there is still time for verbenas, about breast cancer.
In 2014 he premiered the short film Las mujeres que triunfan, followed by the documentary Chicas Nuevas 24 horas (2015).
In 2017 he published the book El proxeneta, which he later directed as a documentary (2018).
The screening after the presentation will start at 8 pm, and the entrance as always is free until full capacity is reached.
