The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has taken another step towards the construction of the city of Justice by agreeing with the Secretary of State for Defense, Ángel Olivares, the road map for the acquisition of the land
The mayor met this morning with the Secretary of State for Defense, with whom he has agreed to draft a protocol between the Ministry of Defense and the City of Cartagena for the purchase and sale of the Navy Subsistence Factory, where the new City of Justice would be built.
"We continue advancing without pause, just as I committed myself, so that Cartagena can have the City of Justice that it deserves as soon as possible.
The predisposition of the Ministry of Defense is absolute, something I thank you for.
In fact, we have set ourselves to prepare all the documentation for the protocol to be signed during the month of March, "said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.
In this protocol, the Ministry of Defense will show its interest in selling the plot where the Factory of Subsistence is located, located on Avenida Reina Victoria, while the City Council will reflect its willingness to buy it so that the Ministry of Justice can build there the defendant City of Justice.
"We must remember that this is the location that most members of the Bureau of Justice, as well as the Ministry of Justice, considered more appropriate.
Cartagena suffers a serious deficit in this matter and it is our obligation to respond, as we are doing ", said Ana Belén Castejón.
As soon as the protocol is signed, both administrations will begin to work, through the Institute of Housing, Infrastructure and Defense Equipment (Invied), in the drafting of an agreement in which the definitive price of the site will be determined, the possible compensations for existing debts between the Ministry of Defense and the City Council, payment deadlines and transfer times, among other issues.
"In parallel, the Ministry of Defense is working on the project for the relocation of the Subsistence Factory to the Algameca, which is expected to be completed by mid-year," said Castejón.
