Yesterday, the general secretary of MC Cartagena and municipal spokesman, José López, and the ediles María José Soler, Ricardo Segado and Francisco Calderón, held a working meeting with groups, associations and residents of the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood to address issues of interest for this environment.
In the first place, Ricardo Segado took the floor to offer a few hints about the work of MC during his time in the municipal government, work characterized by a management based on transparency, efficiency and optimization of resources.
For his part, José López began his speech at this meeting, which was held at the neighborhood association of the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood, explaining to the attendees some of the actions carried out by MC in the area.
As an example, López recalled that "one of the biggest investments we could carry out was the installation of artificial turf on the López Belmonte football field, as well as other specific actions to improve this facility. I acquired with you if I reached the City Hall and, as it could not be otherwise, it was materialized in 2017. "
The Cartagena leader congratulated himself on "the dynamic effect and the increase in the number of boys and girls who practice sports after the improvements made in it".
Among the future challenges, José López called attention to the need to carry out a regeneration action in this area, "a social urbanism, which we understand must go hand in hand with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, following the scheme marked by the Project MAPS that has given such good results in Lo Campano ".
Therefore, considered as "essential" the development of an Integral Action Plan (PAI) in neighborhoods like Virgen de la Caridad, Villalba or San Antón, action demanded by MC through an amendment to the municipal budgets of 2018.
Finally, he also outlined the positive effect that the location of the future City of Justice in the CC1 sector would have on the environment, the only place that had the unanimous support of the Plenary.
For their part, residents and groups demanded the need to increase citizen security in the neighborhood, showing special concern for the youthful vandalism they suffer daily;
of a greater communication between the municipal responsible of social services and the association of neighbors, and a firm commitment to fight against the scholastic absenteeism, as well as that new initiatives in matter of formation are impelled.
The councilors of MC took good note, adding José López that, among the existing problems, are that the City has to assume improper powers in social matters, which should be responsible to the Autonomous Community, as well as the municipality does not have a barracks of the Civil Guard as the main post.
