The City of Cartagena becomes again a pioneer, in this case being the first in the Region of Murcia that sets in motion the Table for Social Inclusion and Promotion of Citizenship, whose Standing Committee has been constituted today Wednesday.

All the Government Areas and Councils of the City Council, together with the Network for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion (EAPN RM) in which the entities of the third sector of the municipality are represented, make up this table presided by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.

"Today is an important day," said Castejon, "since the idea we have been working on for some time is what is coordinating us to give impetus to that social inclusion plan that is a pending issue and obsession of governments."

In this line, the mayor said that "with the constitution of this Board, the City Council makes clear what it wants to do, to be in contact with the Network, which is the one that works with those who really need it and can tell us the actions that they are necessary for full inclusion, and one of those actions that they proposed to us, the increase of the municipal budget, is already a reality ".

For his part, the representative of the Network to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion, Diego Cruzado, who has stood out among the concrete issues that most concern housing or the hot and cold waves, emphasized the fact that the The start-up of the Mesa involves coordinating actions not only with Social Services, which had already been done, but with all the Councils.

For Crusader, 'this table is another step towards creating more long-term policies with issues that have to be dealt with forcefully, but with a head and with time so that it is really a solution and not a punctual action'.

In this way, the entities that work with people who need it contribute their experience and the City Council resources, coordinating with the objective of carrying out social policies aimed at removing people from social exclusion and poverty.

FIGHT AGAINST EXCLUSION IN CARTAGENA

The constitution of the Table of Social Inclusion and Promotion of Citizenship was approved by the Government Junta on November 8, through a framework agreement and with the objective of formalizing cooperation, dialogue and joint work among the entities of the Anti-Poverty Network of the Region of Murcia and the City of Cartagena within the framework of local policies to combat poverty and exclusion.

In the general protocol of actions that regulates the constitution and management of the Bureau, the main objectives are: establish joint work spaces, analyze municipal social policies and strategies, actively participate in the design, planning, development and evaluation of policies social at a local level, and incorporate into the process, other entities not included in EAPN RM and other social agents that can contribute to the development of the objectives of this table.

As for priority actions, they include, among others, the planning and development of local-level conferences, the carrying out of studies and research on the state of poverty and exclusion in the municipality of Cartagena, or the design and planning of a Plan Integral Social Action of the Municipality.
