', Which will take place at 8:00 pm at the Josefina Soria Library of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, will attend this talk.
Are borders the normative excuse for policies that are unsupportive of asylum and refugee claimants?
Is not a fundamental right the reception of people fleeing from countries in conflict, impossible for a decent life?
These and other questions are those that will be raised in the post-table conversation, of a topic with which today hits our consciences every day, and for which we often do not know the answers.
Natalia Moraes, professor of the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia and academic coordinator of the "Refugium" Project, will integrate the table;
Fernando Bermúdez, member of Amnesty International and member of the 'Óscar Romero' committees in Europe, with thirty years of work experience in Guatemala in the defense and promotion of Human Rights;
and Belén Valera, attached to the territorial coordination of ACCEM Cartagena.
Three qualified voices that will talk about the policies of border control, asylum and refuge and the reception procedure for migrants and asylum seekers in the EU, Spain and Murcia.
These Solidarity Days are organized by several entities such as the Department of Sociology of the University of Murcia with the Project 'Refugium', Círculo de Silencio Cartagena, Friends of Ritsona Association, Doctors without Borders, Amnesty International, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services and the program of the Department of Culture Cartagena Piensa.
It will be coordinated by José Luis Ortega, Coordinator of Immigration and Development Cooperation of the Department of Social Services.
Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
