"It is important to emphasize that women are better prepared for engineering," said the Rector, referring to his experience as a teacher and engineering student.
"Who said engineering was not for women?
My experience as a teacher and as a student also leads me to the same conclusion: women are as or better prepared for engineering than men ", despite this, he has continued that most of society, families and girls themselves believe otherwise.
In that sense, she made reference to the gala 'I want to be an Engineer' for the promotion of scientific vocations among young women and where 1,500 students of 3rd and 4th ESO attended the Víctor Villegas Auditorium in Murcia. of a total of 3,800 registered.

The objective of the same, the Rector has emphasized, is for talent to flow and find its place in the labor market through the feeling of belonging to a common alma mater, the UPCT.
"We want our graduates to keep in touch with us so that they are informed of the entire offer of official training and ongoing training, so that they continue to use the resources of our university and to form part of a network of contacts in the productive fabric that facilitate their employability and help them in their professional development, "he said.
During the act of St. Thomas Aquinas this year has had special relevance the 20th anniversary of the UPCT.
In that sense, Díaz Morcillo has pointed out that some "crucial" aspects for the future of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena are the generation of knowledge and its transfer to society, the employability of graduates, entrepreneurship, internationalization, scientific dissemination , technological and cultural, efficiency and effectiveness in management, quality in teaching, offering titles in line with social needs and transparency and accountability.

On efficiency in university management, the Rector recalled that since January 1, the new departmental structure of the UPCT has been in operation, which now has only 15 departments instead of the initial 25.
"After the reform we have reached an average department size similar to the average of Spanish universities", "it was an animated debate and its resolution demonstrated the self-critical capacity of our university, it is an example of self-reform for many other entities or public administrations".
Before finalizing his speech, in which he has recognized the efforts of the new doctors and the students who have obtained the extraordinary prizes, the collaboration of various companies and institutions with the UPCT and the teaching quality in the University with the awards given to The referent professors of the European Higher Education Area, the Rector has sent a message of concern for the remaining time of concession of the Alberto Colao University Residence.
"It is legal, legitimate, but not understandable," he said, stressing the "impossibility" of the UPCT to assume with its budget the remodeling of the old administrative building of the City Council to put into operation a new residence.
In this sense, he added that he will ask the Bureau of the next Regional Assembly to be "understanding of our situation and extend the assignment until the new residence is put into service."
