The MC Cartagena municipal group will demand, during the next municipal plenary session to be held on Thursday, January 31, that the local government institutionalize the annual commemoration of the 'Modernist Autumn'.

The mayor of Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, recalled how "José López promoted the celebration of this cultural movement, which marked a before and after for the municipality, organizing in 2016 the Year of Modernism."

This initiative was carried out coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of the Gran Hotel, building that served as a symbol for this commemoration.

Mowed has valued the collaboration provided by the Beltrí Commission for the proper development of this project, as well as historians, chroniclers and researchers, praising that "the result of this has arisen a social movement that continues to invoke a movement that, we understand, must continue present in our memory and cultural future ".

"Based on this work started in 2016, in November of that same year, during the MC Cartagena mayor's office, the 'Modernist Autumn' initiative emerged, which once again highlighted the concern and social need to continue commemorating modernism in a way annual, with a rich program of activities ", has revealed the councilor of MC.

In this context, he added that "the success of this movement makes it necessary for the Consistory to ensure a sufficient and specific budget for the Modernist Autumn within the municipal accounts, with a clear vocation for permanence and growth in the hands of associations and collectives" .

Finally, Ricardo Segado regretted that "since our departure from the Government, more than a year ago, we have only seen collaboration threats from the City Council, perhaps to get past this claim, as it did in 2018, proclaiming it as the European Year of Heritage without organizing anything or almost nothing, for this reason, we will demand that a 60,000 euro budget be reserved for next year's municipal budget in order to promote the annual municipal program 'Modernist Autumn' ".
