BBVA has donated the two reliefs that until now adorned the entrance of the BBVA office in the main street of Cartagena to Santo and Real Hospital de la Caridad, in order to keep the Cartagena people enjoying them.
Both works are by the sculptor Manuel Ardil Pagán Cartagena and represent the Allegory of Cartagena.
The origin of these two reliefs dates back to 1980, when the then Bank of Bilbao commissioned Manuel Ardil Pagán these two works, which were sculpted in granite, marble and bronze, one of them and in plaster, the other.
The entrance of the BBVA office in the main street of Cartagena has been its location until now, until the remodeling of this office, started two months ago, advised its withdrawal.
The BBVA team in the city then launched an initiative in order to find a new exhibition place where all Cartagena people could continue enjoying these works of art.
The chosen destination was the Holy and Real Hospital of the Charity of the city that offered to welcome in its facilities the two beautiful pieces.
For BBVA this donation is part of the commitment of the entity with the city of Cartagena and their families.
According to David Conde, territorial director of BBVA East, "We are delighted that the murals of the sculptor Manuel Ardil can remain in the sculptor's hometown and in a place as worthy as the Holy and Royal Hospital of Charity.

Within our facet as a socially responsible business BBVA has wanted to return to society part of what she has given us in all these years, donating these reliefs to an institution that does well in Cartagena "The murals will soon be installed in the hall of entrance of the Hospital de la Caridad and may be visited again by all Cartagena.
