The Regional Contest of Music Bands will have its headquarters this year in the city of Cartagena, on Saturday, February 16, at 18:00 hours, where three bands from the region will compete and will also play the Sauces Musical Group.
For now, the place where this event is to be held is to be determined and confirmed later.
"Cartagena is the best place to hold the Regional Music Band Contest, we are a municipality with four consolidated bands, one of them, more than 100 years old, and what better way to do this eighth edition here" the councilor affirmed of Culture of the City of Cartagena, David Martínez, during the presentation Thursday of the event.
In this eighth edition of the Regional Contest of Bands of Music 'City of Cartagena', the three bands that will compete will be the Santa Cecilia de Archena Musical Group, the Musicians Cultural Association of Guadalupe (Murcia) and the Musical Group of Caravaca de la Cross.
The three musical groups are composed of between 55 and 70 musicians.
Today Thursday, January 24, the raffle has been held to know the order in which the different bands will perform.
The Musical Group of Caravaca de la Cruz will be the first to act, followed by the Cultural Musician Association Las Musas de Guadalupe and the Santa Cecilia de Archena Musical Group, in that order.
The regional contest consists of, first, a parade, before the start of this;
a reception by the jury and the authorities together with the bands that will participate;
a paso doble;
an interpretation of a forced work, in this case, 'Latin Suite, OP.

and, a free work, that should last between 5-15 minutes.

52 'is a festive composition for a music band inspired in some cases of the rhythms of traditional South American music such as salsa, bachata and chachachá.
The prizes of the contest are: the first prize of 2,000 euros, a second prize of 1,500 euros, and a third prize of 1,000 euros.
In addition, accrediting diplomas will be awarded and the contest bowtie will be imposed.
"The important thing in music is to make and have fun with it, apart from prizes and above all the previous work that is done is what is worth it because in the end the best prize is for the bands to move on and we can continue to carry the name of our municipalities where we are going "David Martínez.
"The event is the pretext of being able to grow some bands, it is motivating to encourage the growth of bands, musicians, society and the city that hosts the event" has qualified the president of the Federation of Bands of the Region of Murcia, Ginesa Zamora.
In addition, the host band of this contest, the Musical Association Sauces, will be in charge of closing the Regional Contest of Bands of Music 'City of Cartagena'.
"We are delighted to welcome all the bands in the city of Cartagena, because the important thing is to share the music," said the president of the Sauces Musical Group, María Caridad Banacloig.
This year, the poster has been designed by the artist from Cartagena, Javier Lorente, where a flutist is represented with the background of the port of Cartagena and the Castillo de la Concepción.
