This Thursday, January 24th, the GDMuseos project took place in the Auditorium and El Batel Conference Center and in the ARQVA Museum in Cartagena, which brought together more than 700 sixth and elementary students, as well as like some college students.
The event, which was designed in the first place and coordinated by the director of IES Alcántara de Alcantarilla, Ginés Ruiz, was attended by the Councilor for Education, Mercedes García, and the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, by the City of Cartagena, but also the secretary of the Ministry of Education of the Region of Murcia, Esperanza Moreno, as well as the directors of all the participating national, regional and local museums.
The councilor Mercedes García, has emphasized that today's education is completely different to that of a few years ago and that projects like this are the ones that intend to introduce this innovation in education.
"Understand that teachers can not be mere transmitters of knowledge, but much more is needed," he declares, "the City Council approves all kinds of educational projects that, like this one, propose totally new ideas as well as collaboration between centers."
This is why there have been many educational centers in the Region interested in participating in the GDMuseos, which is based on collaborative work and the elaboration of different resources, fruit of the students.
These materials will remain in the museums and will belong to the cultural and regional heritage.
The activities started at 10 o'clock in the morning with the presentation of the project with musical performances and, subsequently, the different activities with the students and workshops took place in groups, as well as a lunch and dinner abroad.
They have added a total of 16 workshops conducted in parallel at El Batel, the ARQVA Museum and the UPCT Industrial School where students have created different resources under the supervision of their teachers through active methodologies and collaborative work such as the creation of QR codes.
In addition to activities on technology (videoconferences, virtual reality, augmented reality, etc.), workshops on archeology, gamification and even a workshop on how to make an 'escape room' have also been given.
The students who teach them have had previous training to later transmit their knowledge to the other students, while the teachers are mere coordinators.
Thus, in addition to working so much intercenter, groups of different ages have been formed.
"This type of project is a clear example of how things should be done in education" said the secretary of the Department of Regional Education.
