The security in the municipality is guaranteed, as explained by the councilor of the Area of ​​Public Function, Finance and Quality of Life, Manuel Mora, thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the members of the Local Police Corps of Cartagena.
"All the services will be covered, as has been done so far and how it will continue to be done.
Retirements are not going to endanger security at any time, "he stressed.
The mayor has called false and alarmist statements of a municipal group that has questioned security.
"It is an absolute irresponsibility.
Citizens can rest easy because the Local Police is prepared to face the upcoming local festivities with absolute normality.
In addition, with respect to the relief of the controls, it is already planned for several weeks and there will be no problem.
There will be an officer in charge of the Local Police both in Carnival and Holy Week and, shortly, the opposition will be called for the position of sub-inspector corresponding to the Public Employment Offer of 2018, with which the relief of the officer will be guaranteed " , has specified.
The mayor recalled that during the last years of the Government of the Popular Party, the City Council was intervened, which made it impossible to hire staff, including members of the Local Police.
"Since we arrived at the Government, we have addressed this issue.
The first thing was to reduce the municipal debt and, once we stopped being intervened, we started the process to call oppositions.
In the 2017 budget there was no budget line for this purpose, and last year, 2018, we proposed in the draft budget that 550,000 euros be allocated and the amendments submitted by the municipal groups reduced this item to 100,000 euros, making it impossible that the oppositions will be convened until the end of last year, as we did, "said Mora.
The councilman explained that in the current call is expected to cover the thirty seats of agents who retire, and that it will try to advance the opposition of the Public Employment Offer of 2018 for the selection process to take place in September and they can be incorporated as soon as possible.
Also, Manuel Mora recalled that today the staff of the Local Police has 4 sergeants.
February 12 is the date set for the pending trial on the internal promotion positions.
Once this issue is resolved, the process to cover the command positions will be reactivated, so in a short space of time you could count on 2 officers, 4 sergeants and 8 corporals.
"Regardless of all this, citizens can rest assured that security is guaranteed.
There are controls and they will remain.
In addition, the professionalism of the agents allows us to cover the lack of personnel with overtime, "said Mora.
