The National Saetas Contest already has a poster for its sixth edition, whose authorship falls back on the popular Cartagena painter Pedro Diego Pérez Casanova.
The Old Public Market of La Union was the emblematic place in which the Portapasos Grouping of the Blessed Virgin of Mercy gave the kick-off on Saturday to the contest of 2019.
Also presented was the sculpture-trophy that this year will receive the winner, and which has been designed by the artist Fernando Sáenz de Elorieta.
The event was attended by hundreds of people, but also representatives of the world of culture and politics of the region, such as the Minister of Development and Infrastructure of the Region of Murcia, Patricio Valverde, the Councilor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, David Martínez Noguera , and the first deputy mayor of La Union, Elena José Lozano, as well as the Brother of the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, Francisco Pagán, and the president of the Association of the Virgen de la Piedad, José Jesús Guillén.
The gala was starring in music with performances such as the 'Ciudad de Cartagena Folkloric Group' of La Palma or Lola Cayuela, the winner of Cante Flamenco at the Between Strings and Metals Competition 2018 in Cartagena, performing an arrow, accompanied by the musician Ibán Huertas.
The presentation had its golden touch with the performance of the cantaor Evaristo Cuevas, Murcianas Award and other mining cantes, at the Cante de Las Minas Festival 2018.
The deadline to register for the contest will be open until January 31.
The bases are already available on the Contest website (www.portapasospiedad.es) and on their social networks.
