The Local Government Board of the City of Cartagena has approved this morning the out-of-court agreement with the technical entity Investment Gamma to comply with the ruling of the Contentious Administrative Court that requires the City to cash return about 5.2 million euros as consequence of the urban agreement signed in 2005, after not being able to take effect.
In that agreement, the City Council sold the municipal development of the future Partial Plan of the La Manga Nursery and compensated for it in part the amount owed then for the purchase of the old Bullring to this same company.
As noted by the councilor of Finance, Manuel Mora, the City has agreed with the company to settle those 5.2 million euros, plus half of the interest generated since 2016, in which he claimed payment, within six months years, at a rate of about 900 thousand euros per year.
Manuel Mora has pointed out that this situation is the result of the inheritance received from previous municipal governments and their erroneous urban policies, with which he reached land use agreements with companies that later could not be carried out and that are burdening the budget municipal.
WAR OF TROYA
The Governing Board has also approved this morning the agreement with the banking foundation La Caixa for the planning and organization during the 13th and 14th of February of various didactic theater performances around the Trojan War.
It is estimated that about 1,000 schoolchildren will be able to participate in this activity, which will be free and for which the City Council will hand over the Hermanos García cinema hall, at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
ANNUAL SPORTS AWARDS
Finally, and among other matters, the Governing Board has approved the bases of a new call for the annual Cartagena Sports Awards, corresponding to 2018, whose candidacy submission phase will open shortly.
