The ceremonial room of the Consistorial Palace of Cartagena hosted the presentation of the book "Nicomedes Gómez" on the painter from Cartagena this past Friday, January 18.
The act was attended by the author of the work, Diego Ortiz, and its editor, Nicomedes Gómez.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, who dedicated a few words to the artist and author, and the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez.
More than 250 people attended the event, in which the chronicler Luis Miguel Perez Adán and the author dedicated their speech of thanks to the collaborating entities and all the attendees.
After these words, a bust will be inaugurated in homage to the Cartagena artist Nicomedes Gómez, installed in the subjective room that bears the name of the Cartagena painter, and a copy of the book was also given to all those attending the event.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Nicomedes Gómez was born in Cartagena in 1903. Son of a humble family, he soon began a life of personal improvement.
Entered as an ordinance in the Spanish Society of Naval Construction.
In 1927 he made a portrait of King Alfonso XIII that marked the beginning of his career that was meteoric.
