The Municipal Board Carmen Conde will commemorate in 2019 the 40 years of the entry of the Cartagena writer in the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, as the first woman who reached an armchair in that institution, as well as the 90 years of the publication of his first work "Curb".
These activities are contemplated in the budgets of this body of the City of Cartagena, which this morning have been approved unanimously by its Governing Board, chaired by the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez.
Patronato Carmen Conde- Antonio Oliver is the agency in charge of guarding and disseminating the legacy of both writers from Cartagena.
In the case of Carmen Conde, recognized by critics as one of the best poets of the twentieth century and first woman elected member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
Her husband, Antonio Oliver Belmás, professor and poet, is considered one of the greatest scholars of the work of Rubén Darío.
Despite the ups and downs that made them live outside of Cartagena, their hometown, upon passing away they wanted to deliver to this their important cultural legacy, deposited in the Cultural Center "Ramón Alonso Luzzy", where they can find out their personal archive and library and visit the Museum dedicated to them.
