The Association of Friends of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena Enrique Escudero de Castro, will expose from Thursday 17 January, at 19:30 hours, at the Siyasa Museum in Cieza, the photos of the Third Photography Contest on the Archaeological Heritage of the Region of Murcia.
In November, the Third Edition of the "Antonio Acosta Hernández" Photography Contest was held in homage to its first president.
The main theme of the contest is the archaeological heritage.
Archeology provides material goods with a historical, cultural and aesthetic value that give us back the essence of the people who lived in each historical setting.
With this contest, and its subsequent exhibition, the objective is to pose a challenge to the photographer's gaze, so that he collects that essence and captures these values, at the same time, that serves to disseminate the fabulous regional archaeological heritage.
The first edition focused on the archaeological heritage of Cartagena and Comarca, but from the second edition was extended to the entire Region.
The unpublished, original works, either in color or in black and white, were presented until October 22 at the headquarters of the Municipal Archaeological Museum 'Enrique Escudero de Castro'.
In total, there were 42 works presented.
On November 16, at the Municipal Archaeological Museum, the award ceremony of the photo contest was held with the assistance of the Councilor of Heritage of the City of Cartagena, General Coordinator of the Archaeological and Historical Heritage of Cartagena, members of the Board of Directors of MUSAEDOMUS and technicians from the Archaeological Museum itself.
The jury was made up of professionals of recognized prestige in the areas of Archeology and Photography.
With respect to the prizes, there were three, the first one endowed with 500 euros and a trophy, a sculpture by Fernando Sáenz de Elorrieta;
the 2nd, with 300 euros;
and the 3rd, with 100 euros.
The winning photographs of the contest were: "Rosa de los vientos" by the Yeclano Juan Miguel Ortuño Martínez, "Arrearic Burial" by the Molina Nieves Ortuño Sáenz from Molinense and "Personal Traits" by the Murcian Miguel Martínez Sánchez.
After meeting the winners of the contest and remaining exposed the exhibition in the Municipal Archaeological Museum, it was decided to offer this to other museums in the Region.
The first stop is Thursday, January 17 at the Siyasa Museum in Cieza.
The exhibition can be visited until February 10.
