Carmen Maura, one of the most recognized Spanish actresses and with four Goyas to her credit, returns to the stage with 'La Golondrina', which will be on stage at the Nuevo Teatro Circo in Cartagena on Friday, January 18, at 9:00 p.m. , within the theatrical program of the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.
'La Golondrina', where sexual freedom and different forms of love lie, narrates the life of Amelia -Carmen Maura-, a severe singing teacher, and Ramón -Félix Gómez-, a young man who wants to improve his vocal technique to sing in the memorial of his mother recently deceased.
Around La golondrina, the chosen song, both characters will shed details of their past, marked by a terrorist attack of Islamist sign.
The discovery of the truth about these events will provoke a hard confrontation between the characters and unite their destinies forever.
This is the approach of 'La Golondrina', written by Guillem Clua, who was inspired by the terrorist attack of the Pulse bar in Orlando (USA), in June 2016, and which cost 49 lives.
The work tries to understand the nonsense of horror, the consequences of hatred and the strategies that the being uses to safeguard his soul.
In this case, the protagonists are confronted with two paths: hating themselves or walking together.
The assembly of 'La Golondrina', directed by Josep Maria Mestres and produced by LaZona, celebrated its world premiere at El Cervantes Theater in London, in September 2017. Subsequently, the work was performed in Greece (Teatro Gloria de Atenas);
Italy (Teatro Stabile de Catania);
Uruguay (Notariado Theater of Montevideo);
Romania (Studio Theater of Târgu-Mures).
There were also dramatized readings of Clua's text in Rome and in Chicago.
Those who want to attend the theater will be able to buy the tickets that are already on sale at the box office of the Nuevo Teatro Circo de Cartagena or on its website www.nuevoteatrocirco.com.
Tickets are from 20 euros.
