The Local Government Board, meeting this morning with an extraordinary nature, has approved a budget modification in order to enable the completion in 2019 of the consolidation and strengthening works of the Monte de la Casilla in El Portús, with a budget of 34 thousand euros.
That the cost of the works that remain to execute the project that began to materialize last October, amounting to about 121 thousand euros, and that could not be completed in 2018.
The project that will continue in execution a month more consists in the maintenance and stabilization of the slope located in part of the west slope in order to avoid the possible landslides that could affect the existing houses at the foot of the slope closest to the beach.
To this end, a high-performance network has been installed that holds this area of ​​the mountain to prevent rockfall, which has been continuous for years.
Most of this network is already in place, subtracting its completion that is planned for the month of March.
The Councilor for Infrastructures, Juan Pedro Torralba, recalled that this action will respond to an old claim of the residents of El Portus, considered in the participatory budgets.
