Citizens has confirmed today that it will condition its support to the municipal budgets of 2019 to the realization, with its corresponding economic endowment, of a special plan of road safety in the surroundings of all the educational centers of Cartagena.

"We have taken very seriously what the children's groups denounced in the Children's Plenary 2018" has warned the spokesman of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padin, who recalled that there is a plenary agreement promoted by his group to meet the demands of the AMPA of the San Vicente de Paúl School "the objective is to reduce the risk of accidents in the schedules of exit and entry of 1,700 schoolchildren in this center, and far from being a specific problem, we believe that it is a generalized problem in the municipality".

"We will try to include in the accounts of 2019 the necessary items to apply in Cartagena a battery of security measures in educational environments," says Padín, who has clarified that "for all those actions that affect roads or areas that are not of municipal competence, the competent authority will have to be urged ".

Claims in the Children's Plenary

The LAE group, from Colegio La Encarnación, asked for the increase of luminous or 3D traffic signs, add more traffic lights, increase the fences on nearby sidewalks, increase the police presence, widen the sidewalks so that no plugs are formed and reduce only one way the circulation of the streets.

On the other hand, the group PAO of the school Poet Antonio Oliver proposed that always there is a municipal policeman who controls the traffic and the speeding of the cars, as well as painting the steps of pedestrians in the doors of access to the center with effect in 3D or prohibit the passage of cars on the street that leads to the main access doors to the school.

The group of Galileos Unidos for a Safe Narrow Well (Gupes), of the San Fulgencio School demanded that they paint the zebra crossings, the placement of traffic lights and traffic signs, the creation of more parking lots, an increase of the police presence and the change from the entrance door to the center on the secondary road to avoid danger.

And the group of Our Lady of the Sea explained that their school is located in an area where there are several roads that have to be crossed to go to or return from class, and where the zebra crossings are not respected.
