The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, received on Wednesday at the Consistorial Palace the Cartagena composer Javier Pérez Garrido, who has donated an unpublished musical piece to the City of Cartagena, the fantasy 'Kiss Mediterranean ', dedicated precisely to the Consistory and inspired by the Christmas lighthouse and the ancient relationship of the port city with the Mediterranean Sea.
This composition is part of the disc 'Obertura Heroica' that has been recorded next to the Musical Unit of the Tercio de Levante and for which it has counted on the collaboration of the City Council, which was given to it by the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center for that purpose.
The album will be released soon and is made up of several pieces created for the promotion of Cartagena.
"It is a privilege for us and for Cartagena that a composer of the stature of Javier Pérez Garrido not only has dedicated a work to the City Council but also has given it for the promotion of the city," said the mayor.
Javier Pérez Garrido is a prestigious Cartagena composer and clarinetist, winner of such outstanding awards as the Akademia Music Awards of the United States or the Adalid Award for Music, both last year, or the International Symphony Music Composition Award for Banda 'Vila de Muro 'this year.
"The commitment to music and culture in general is one of our hallmarks.
Cartagena has been and is the birthplace of great talents to which we must promote from the City Council because their work and creativity contribute to enhance our municipality and make it known outside our borders, "said David Martinez.
