From PODEMOS we respect what was agreed in the Institutional Declaration of the Plenary Session of the City Council last June, which prioritized the non-strangulation of our city and guaranteed that Hondon lands would not be affected.
For our group the fundamental axes are: viability in the economic cost, the minimum environmental impact, the full guarantee of citizen health and the social benefit of rail transport and its integration into the urban fabric.
We strongly oppose the fact that the AVE is a business only for a few, and that it is also done putting the health of the people at risk, removing the land of El Hondón, which contains Uranium 238.
We do not want a train that passes over, much less below, contaminated and dangerous terrain, even if this means the expiration of the Environmental Impact Statement in the next month of December.
On the contrary: we believe that said Declaration must be fully updated and complete in relation to the new lands.
Only in this way will we have full security for the neighbors of the affected neighborhoods2E
From PODEMOS we insist on the modernization of the railway network not only in the city but in the Region.
This is the real priority.
We are still deceived by the candy from the AVE: a deficient and expensive train, as the European Court of Auditors itself concludes, a train that we will all pay but in which only a privileged few will travel.
Meanwhile, the railway network for ordinary people is a real shame, with old and obsolete trains.
Therefore, from PODEMOS we consider that, rather than squandering millions in the AVE, we must bet on hybrid trains, for the electrification of the railway network and, above all, for strengthening the Cercanías Network, so that students, workers and ordinary people move in a means of transport appropriate and proper to the 21st century.
