The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, met this morning with the spokespersons of the municipal groups to inform them of the different alternatives proposed by the technicians of the Ministry of Development for the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena, at the same time that it has shown its predisposition to the definitive route is the one that contemplates the arrival to the city of underground form, with different lines for passengers and merchandize, and with direct connection with the ZAL of the Camachos, as it contemplated the declaration approved in full municipal.
The mayor wants to achieve the maximum consensus when deciding which route is the most appropriate for the municipality, although she has also explained that it would be convenient to take advantage of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), already approved, avoiding having to request a new one that, Due to the changes in the regulations, it could generate a very complex procedure and, above all, extended over time.
The Ministry of Development is willing to sign an agreement guaranteeing that the line will be ready for a second phase of burial, which will be executed later.
The Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Pedro Saura, explained yesterday to the mayor, during the meeting held in Madrid, that the project and the works will be put out to tender immediately, as soon as an agreement is reached on the final layout of the AVE To Cartagena.
In fact, it is expected that the Cartagena High Speed Council will meet before the end of January so that the tender can be carried out as soon as possible.
