During the session, José López explained that "it is essential to avoid the wall effect in the neighborhoods, offer a solution to the traffic of merchandise in the ZAL of Los Camachos and the Alumbres variant and, above all, ensure that it is a solution definitive for the long term of the municipality. "Regarding the AVE, Lopez has reported that" the Murcia-Cartagena route is not started, and it will take about four years to be completed in the best of scenarios, so there are no reasons to urgency so that the best option for Cartagena is not meditated. "During the meeting, the municipal technician has ratified the proposals presented by MC, confirming that the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena is only a political decision, as it is an issue of budget.
MC rejects "a patch" in the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena
Prior to the meeting, José López has attended the media affirming about the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena that "the decision we made was taken together with the rest of the groups in the Plenary, hopefully not betraying the will of the neighbors, that of all Cartagena, which was already expressed in the Plenary. "
The mayor has shown that "MC is for the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena, the merchandise to Los Camachos, Gorguel or Escombreras, a high speed that does not split the city and serves the long term of our municipality."
Lopez has defended that "the criterion of the technicians" be followed, that is the one that the neighbors support, rejecting any other alternative that supposes "a patch".
The Cartagena spokesman recalled how "until now we have seen the effort to take the railway out of the center of Cartagena and take it to Mandarache", rejecting the mayor of MC that the arrival of "high speed should be conditioned to the urban development of a specific area from Cartagena".
Of the options offered by the Ministry of Development, the Cartagena training supports those that meet the criteria set by the Plenary.
One of them, number one, contemplates that they share a trip to Los Camachos, both passengers and merchandise, and then go to the future ZAL of Los Camachos, El Gorguel and Escombreras, while the line of passengers would reach the city through of the Cabezo de la Viuda, in front of the Security Park, taking the current road in its entrance to the urban area, without leaving areas and neighborhoods such as El Hondón or Torreciega.
