- The socialist councilor, Manuel Mora, announces that a comprehensive evaluation project is being carried out and that the budget to enable the swimming pools will be very high;
although he did not want to specify a figure
In the plenary session of last June, Ciudadanos asked about the serious problems that the Palace of Sports of Cartagena still suffers today, among others, the absence of isolation in the spaces where the swimming pools are located.
The then head of the Sports Department, Obdulia Gómez, was not able to answer the questions because she did not even understand them, as she admitted during the plenary session.
The Orange formation has tried again to gather the answers in the plenary session today.
Manuel Padín explained that when he visited these facilities with his own group of experts, "one of the things that surprised us the most was that the pool was not insulated so that the chlorine vapor, highly corrosive, can easily expand throughout the enclosure and damage and oxidize the entire inner cover of the Palace within a period of only four or five months, as explained to us by the municipal technicians. "
"What's more, we learned, thanks to the sports portal 'Efesista', that they had to empty the main pool because the spikes on the roof and other elements were dripping rust on the floor," added Padín.
Response from Manuel Mora
After four previous questions in the Plenary, Citizens has achieved that for the first time the Government of Cartagena admit the serious deficiencies, in terms of isolation, that have the three swimming pools of the Sports Palace;
councilman Manuel Mora has recriminated the PP to receive the pools and reported that at this time the City is conducting a general study to enable these spaces and advances that the necessary budget will be very high.
Other deficiencies
In addition, orange training considers that not having installed a single solar panel in the Palace is a fact that must be corrected as soon as possible, and the replacement of furniture not accessible as the support bars on the stairs.
It also considers that a system of gutters should be installed to prevent the exterior of the building from puddling every time it rains.
All these extremes have been reported by Cs since 2016.
On the other hand, Ciudadanos has echoed the recent inspection that some editors of the sports digital magazine 'Efesistas' has published on its website about the Palace, "criticize also the formation of puddles in the lobby of the sports center, the absence of booths for the sports press, the entrance to the inaccessible parking for buses, the unfinished changing rooms, the unfurnished press room and without the basic equipment, the accumulated dirt in structural spaces of difficult access, problems of lighting in the court annexed to the main, the loose wiring and the famous barbs discovered throughout the site.
