The City of Cartagena has signed a series of agreements with grants for a total of 37 senior clubs in the municipality and its Federation, for which they will receive a total of 61,257 euros for their program of activities and the costs of their premises.
The delivery of the agreements has taken place this Wednesday, December 26, by the hand of the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, in the Ceremonial Hall of the Palace Hall, where she has been the president of the Federation of Associations and Centers for the Elderly of Cartagena and Region, María Beteta, and representatives of the Senior Clubs that have received a grant.
The mayor of Cartagena has publicly acknowledged the indispensable role that older people in the municipality develop with their programs of activities, as well as the great "generational work" they carry out, helping, for example, in the care of grandchildren.
The councilor has stressed the importance of the existence of a society of elderly and clubs in the municipality of Cartagena working at full capacity and enjoying very good health, something that "other municipalities do not have," added Castejón.
The first mayor highlighted the work of the Social Services team and added that these helps serve to continue developing programs and actions that make older people active agents in the cultural and social fabric of the municipality.
