On December 21, with the votes in favor of PP and C's, the draft Law of Budgets of the CARM was approved for the year 2019. The accounts approved in the Regional Assembly continue a discriminatory dynamic with Cartagena, to whom They deny their progress and ability to grow.
In this context, the spokesman of the MC Cartagena municipal group, José López, has announced the decision of his training to lead a plenary initiative to get the support of the Corporation and that the municipal Plenary reject a budget project that despises Cartagena again and the needs of its neighbors.
José López has said that "we will also raise the reprobation of the regional government as a whole and of the deputies of PP and C's in the Assembly, which have approved an unfair and discriminatory rule for the inhabitants of Cartagena."
The budget, as Lopez has revealed, distinguishes once again "between Murcia, inhabitants of the city of Murcia, to which the part of the lion allocates the 5,100 million euros and murciados, that we are the inhabitants of Cartagena and the other 43 municipalities of the Region ".
This represents "a whole declaration of intentions, in the electoral year they maintain the discrimination, showing that a Cartagena for them is worth much less than a Murcian".
The spokesman of MC regretted that "Mar Menor, El Hondón or Rosell do not deserve" new investments, that to remove asbestos from schools there are only 40,000 euros and for heritage another 40,000, while roads will receive at best 350,000 euros, completely insufficient for the security needs that every week remind us of the victims of accidents in them ".
The mayor of Cartagena has added one more fact: "for public transport in Cartagena a subsidy of 135,000 euros is budgeted and for the city of Murcia, 4,500,000 euros, to which we must add the unfortunate service to La Manga."
José López has denounced that they continue "condemning us to be second-class citizens in an Autonomous Community of the third, and for this the PP and C's deputies go hand in hand, who sell us for a couple of incumbents and to maintain their status" .
Finally, he said that "we will see what happens in the plenary in which our initiative is discussed, and if the councilors apply what was said to us, on December 5, Mr. José Bonet, and remember that, by constitutional mandate , we represent the inhabitants of Cartagena and we have an obligation to defend them, looking the other way is not an option ".
