The first meetings of the process of constitution of the Council of Culture of Cartagena, the organ of participation in the definition and development of the municipal policy of Culture, were developed this Tuesday and left the Music and Science and Thought commissions, the first of which were set up. the nine commissions that have to be formalized.
These committees elected their representatives -president and secretary- who will represent them in the plenary session of the Culture Council, the highest organ of this participative Council.
The elected representatives were, in the Commission of Science and Thought, Francisco Mateo Ramírez (Secretary) and M.ÂŞ Jesús Morillas Alvarez (President), while in the Music were elected Sergio Pujol González (President) and Paula Alonso Dasi (Secretary ).
The rest of the commissions - Plastic and Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Reading, Books and Libraries, Cinema and Audiovisuals, Popular Cultural and Cultural Heritage and Diversity and Interculturality, as well as a transversal commission for general issues - will meet throughout the month from January.
The plenary session of the Council will be constituted with the representatives of the commissions to which the representatives of the political groups with municipal representation will be added, a representative of each one of the public universities of the region, and up to three people of recognized prestige named by the Local Government Board.
The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, will preside over the Council, which may be delegated to one of her councilors.
The plenary session of the Culture Council will meet at least twice a year, while the committees are autonomous to set their work pace.
The first obligatory task for the Council by the regulation approved by the municipal Plenary is the elaboration of the Municipal Culture Plan.
The creation of the Council of Culture is the main commitment that was derived from the Conference of Culture and Municipality that was celebrated, with massive participation, in November of 2015 in Cartagena.
The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, who attended the constitution of these first two commissions, highlighted the opportunity represented by the creation of this body to democratize the municipal management of culture, through the direct participation of citizens and citizens. the sectors linked to culture, and underscored the enthusiasm and commitment of his government with this commitment.
