The XI Cartagena Blood Donation Marathon returns one more year to the Town Hall.
It will be this Thursday, December 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and under the slogan Date to others.
Donate blood.
Share life
It is an initiative of the Regional Blood Donation Center, with the Cadena Ser of Cartagena and the City of Cartagena, which aims to obtain blood reserves for the long weekend of Friday, December 21, to Tuesday, 25 from December.
The presentation was made by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, who has been with the director of the Cadena SER in Cartagena, Antonio Rosa, and the head of Communication of the Regional Blood Donation Center, Antonia Gómez, who offered the details of the event.
The mayor has indicated that a simple gesture, such as donating blood, can be vital to save the lives of many people, while he has invited Cartagena to attend this "pending appointment", in which the schedule is very broad to adapt to the routines of all citizens.
The donation area will be installed, as usual, on the ground floor of the building, where the tests will be carried out to determine if blood can be donated or not.
To those who come, the City of Cartagena will give them a gift pot and FC Cartagena will invite them to attend the next match, which they will play at home next Saturday, December 22, against CF Talavera.
To liven up the morning, Radio Cartagena Cadena SER will carry out its program Hoy por Hoy with live interviews from the hall of the Town Hall, where the details of "a day full of solidarity" will be told, said Rosa.
For her part, Antonia Gómez recalled that the requirements to donate blood are between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos and be in good health, at the same time that she has appealed to the social responsibility of the citizens, since the December 20 is a critical day, because a long weekend later comes.
The director of Cadena Ser Cartagena has stressed that during these days, hospitals continue to need blood reserves to meet the needs of oncological patients or victims of accidents, among others.
Antonio Rosa pointed out that Cartagena blood donor figures fell considerably in the last edition of the marathon, while he pointed out that this year around 400 participants are expected and that a group of scouts will enable a children's area so children can have fun while their parents donate.
