The X Route of the Fortresses will be held on April 6 from 8:05 pm with departure from Plaza Heroes de Cavite and Cuba in the general test.
One of the main novelties is that the route will pass through the Military Arsenal of Cartagena and a change in the descent of Sierra Gorda, to avoid crowds, which increases the journey by one kilometer.
The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the Admiral of Maritime Action, Manuel de la Puente, and the Colonel Director of the Marine Infantry School 'General Albacete y Fuster' (EIMGAF), Enrique Montero, presented this Monday, 17 December, the new edition of the test in an act that has also assisted the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Mora.
Enrique Montero has explained that another of the novelties of this X edition is the inclusion of a new classification, which will be in pairs, offering a prize to the first three mixed couples, male and female, who arrive at the finish line, at the same time that has indicated that they will increase the places for the tests of children and youth / promo.
A quota of 350 participants has been established for the children's event, which will have an exit and finish at Plaza Heroes de Cavite, with a duration of 2.7 kilometers without time limitation, while for the youth / promo test a place of 200 participants, with exit at Plaza Heroes de Cavite and goal on the Esplanade of the Marine Infantry School.
As for the general test, the quota has been set at 3,800 participants, who will leave at 8:05 in the Plaza Heroes de Cavite with a finish at the Esplanade School of Marine Infantry.
Runners will have a maximum of 12 hours to cover a total of 54.6 kilometers.
The categories established for the general test are Senior men and women for athletes from 18 to 35 years old;
Veterans A male and female from 36 to 49 years old;
Veterans B male and female for over 50 years old;
Special Category for people over 65 years old and the novelty of this year, the mixed category of men and women, who will have to travel together until they reach the finish line.
The registration period will open on January 14 and will close on February 3.
One day later, on February 4, the draw will take place with the allocation of numbers and the payment deadline will open, which will close on February 17.
On February 18 will begin the term of entry for reservations, which will end on February 28.
Registration can be carried out on the website www.rutadelasfortalezas.es and the price of the participation fee is 32 euros for the general test, 15 euros for the juvenile and 10 for the child.
NEWS IN THE ROUTE
The route is maintained with respect to last year with two small but significant reservations: on the one hand, being the X edition will go through the Military Arsenal in recognition of the involvement of the Navy, and on the other hand, has taken out a small variation in the vicinity of Sierra Gorda to avoid the dreaded retentions, especially at the start of the race, by the large volume of runners.

The mayor thanked the "magnificent organization" at the Marine Infantry School 'General Albacete and Fuster' and pointed out that the Route of the Strengths has been consolidated as a "unique and inescapable" event within the national sports calendar, which It is characterized by the beauty of its landscapes and the hardness of its 54 kilometers, as well as its solidary nature and the companionship among participants, which are the hallmarks of identity.
