The Department of Education will carry out during the Christmas holidays of schoolchildren, several works and maintenance activities in 25 schools in Cartagena, for which it will allocate a budget of 220,000 euros.
The Councilor for Education, Mercedes García, has attended throughout the morning of this Thursday, December 13, to visit two of the educational centers where the works will be carried out, the CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina and the CEIP Luis Vives, in El Albujón.
The Councilor for Education has indicated that although generally the bulk of the maintenance works are carried out during the summer holidays, this type of action is also carried out at the end of the year with the money that remains available, since the needs of the Educational centers are permanent.
The councilor pointed out that there are six schools that are under construction, at the same time that has indicated that in another twenty are going to carry out painting and repair work fencing.
In the CEIP Luis Vives and in Nuestra Señora del Mar, a redistribution and conditioning of the toilets will be carried out, while in San Isidoro and Santa Florentina a phonoport will be installed in the main door and it will proceed to the substitution of the waterproofing of the roof.
Likewise, in the CEIP Primitiva López the boiler pump will be replaced, in San Antonio Abad a complete reform of the heating distribution pipes will be carried out and in the Civic Center of El Albujón, the classroom of study.
On the other hand, the actions of painting structures, grilles or facades and masonry, will be carried out at CEIP Asomada, Carthago, Mediterranean, San Fulgencio, San Ginés de la Jara, Santa Florentina, Mare Nostrum, Pipiripao, San Felix, San Isidore and Santa Florentina, Stella Maris, Azorin, Gabriela Mistral, Our Lady of Sorrows, Poet Antonio Oliver, Primitiva Lopez, San Cristobal, San Francisco Javier, Santiago Apóstol and Vicente Medina.
With regard to the case of CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina, the councilor has indicated that from the area of ​​Education is "what you can", since this work, by its nature, should have undertaken the Ministry of Education.
However, due to the warning of possible leaks due to rain, the City of Cartagena has decided to carry it out.
