The exhibition "MVSAS" returns from the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid after receiving nearly 10,000 visits (11/12/2018)

The four paintings of the Muses, found in the excavations of the Molinete, have received almost 10,000 visitors in the temporary exhibition that has taken him to the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid (MAN).

The paintings are already traveling back from Madrid, where they have remained exposed to the public for their visit from October 1 to December 9.

The temporary exhibition, 'MVSAS', formed by the paintings of the first century of the muses Calíope and Terpsícore, Apolo and a painted text alluding to Emperor Heliogábalo, has been realized with the purpose of spreading the archaeological works realized in the last years in the hill of the Windlass, having received the figure of 9,936 visitors during the almost two and a half months that has been exposed to the public in the MAN of Madrid.

The four representations will then be exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, where they will remain for public visit from December 18 to February 17, 2019. Finally, the pieces will be permanently exhibited in the future Museum of the Roman Forum of the Windlass in Cartagena.

The mayor of Cartagena and president of Cartagena Port of Cultures, Ana Belén Castejón, has been very satisfied with the number of visits received to the itinerant exhibition, which has aroused great interest in the population, since "the Barrio del Foro Romano is one of our most important sites, which has pleasantly surprised us with great discoveries and that we want to share with the rest of the country. "

Along with the exhibition, it has also been gratifying the great response obtained by the public in the cycle of conferences scheduled at the Museum of Madrid on the occasion of MVSAS, with the intention of reflecting and disseminating archaeological works, conservation-restoration and putting value made in the Archaeological Park of the Molinete de Cartagena.

As explained by Castejón, the muses have served to promote the future 'Museum of the Roman Forum of the Molinete' and has highlighted the work carried out in the management of the cultural and historical heritage of Cartagena, noting that these tasks "have been promoted and supported by the City Council, and have derived in a greater and better social knowledge of the value of the cultural, historical and archaeological heritage as a powerful asset ".

The Molinete Archaeological Park is a great heritage recovery project financed thanks to the agreement signed between the City of Cartagena and the Repsol Foundation, managed by the Cartagena Port of Cultures consortium.

'MVSAS' will soon be in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, from December 18 to February 17, 2019, to offer more visitors the "beauty of these pieces of enormous historical, artistic and heritage value", before returning definitively To Cartagena.
