Cartagena has held an event to present the municipalities of the Region of Murcia, which this year have achieved the Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia stamp, awarded by UNICEF.
The six municipalities recognized with this seal have been: Cartagena, San Pedro del Pinatar, Campos del Rio, Calasparra, Alcantarilla and Bullas, although the Municipality of Torre Pacheco, one of the four municipalities of Murcia that has renewed this distinction.
The act, which took place this Monday, January 10, in the Reception Room of the Palace of Cartagena, was attended by the Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;
the mayor of Campos del Río, María José Pérez;
the first deputy mayor and education delegate of Alcantarilla, Juan Ramón Gómez;
the second deputy mayor and councilor of Hacienda de Torre Pacheco, Carlos López;
and the Councilor for Social Welfare of San Pedro del Pintar, Francisca Pelegrín;
as well as the president of UNICEF in the Region of Murcia, Amparo Marzal.
A city recognized with this Seal is one where the voices, needs, priorities and rights of children are an integral part of policies, programs and public decisions.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, explained that this recognition has been achieved thanks to the cooperation of the entire Municipal Corporation.
For this reason, all the political groups represented in the City of Cartagena were also present: Mercedes García, Carolina Palazón, Antonio Calderón, Isabel García, Manuel Padín, and Pilar Marcos.
The mayor also thanked the coordinated work of all the Councilors and all local actors who have made possible, with their work and effort, the achievement of this recognition.
The UNICEF committee valued precisely this coordinated work of all the Councils and associations that work with them, as well as the promotion of children's participation in the Children's Council, giving voice to boys and girls, as well as the diversity of activities that are made linked to childhood.

For its part, the president of UNICEF in the Region of Murcia, Amparo Marzal, explained that all municipalities that were present at this event collected this award Amigo Children's City in Ovido, on November 20, Universal Children's Day .
In total there were 110 Spanish municipalities recognized for working from their municipalities to contribute to improving the living conditions of children and adolescents, as well as to implement all the municipal policies necessary to achieve this goal.
As indicated by Marzal, all the municipalities have undergone a detailed assessment "sometimes even with visits", by UNICEF technicians who have examined what in those municipalities "put on paper that was being done by children".
