Cartagena is back to bet on sustainable fishing this Christmas with the realization of several activities promoted by the Area of ​​Economic Strategy, Health and Animal Welfare of the City of Cartagena, through which it is intended to value the artisanal fisheries of the Cartagena coast - because it is a selective fishing method, respectful with the environment and with little impact on habitats of high ecological value- and promote the consumption of responsible local fish and seafood.
For the development of this initiative, which the local corporation has called 'Cartagena with sustainable fishing', the City Council has the Columbares Association.
The activities will begin next Friday, December 14 at the Santa Florentina Market.
First, Cartagena will have the opportunity to learn how to make a purchase of more responsible fish in a practical and participatory with the workshop 'A look at the fish shop' which will take place from 10:00 to 11:30 h.
The workshop is open to the public and has a capacity limited to 20 participants, requiring prior registration by writing an email until December 13 to pesca@columbares.org (indicating name and surname of the participant, age and contact telephone number).
The second part of the day will also be held inside the Santa Florentina Market, where the public will be able to enjoy the show-cooking 'Fisherman's Snack' by chef Mireia Ruíz Manresa, participant in the third edition of the cooking program of TVE MasterChef and Manager of the "educocina" project Cooking smiles.
This activity aims to highlight the local fish of Cartagena, with special emphasis on species of low commercial value and low environmental impact, as well as bringing the artisanal fishermen closer to the public.
In addition, Mireia will teach how to prepare such fish species at home.
The activity will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be suitable for all types of audiences.
The Cartagena will again have the opportunity to learn about artisanal fishing with the theatrical performances PescaTea that will take place on Thursday, December 27 in the Plaza San Francisco.
These theatrical pills are aimed at the family audience and in them, even the youngest of the house can learn in a fun way the ecological values ​​of the marine reserves of fishing interest of Cabo de Palos-Hormigas Islands and Cabo Tiñoso.
In the performances will also be taught some artisanal fishing gear, such as the trammel, the nasa or the cadufo.
These performances will be carried out by the company Teatro de la Entrega, in two different passes, at 12:00 and at 1:00 p.m.
