The agreement of Cs obliges the City Council to resolve and send to the General Directorate of the Environment the list of landfill needs, among which are the expansion project of the facilities, the extension of the current vessel and the forecast of the following, the extension of personnel for the maintenance of the treatment machines, the modernization of the facilities to improve the separation of waste, the reduction of the percentage of rejects, and the optimization of the separation of waste.

Manuel Padín recalled that the European Commission has marked that in 2020 the level of reuse and recycling is 50%, and 65% by 2030, when in Cartagena we are only between 10% and 15%;

Regarding the expansion that is now intended, a manager of FCC already reported this summer to the orange spokesman who are still working to solve with the Environment Department a problem with the border of a protected area LIC and ZEPA, which according to the company would be poorly defined and that would affect the project of this extension that already suffers a considerable delay.

According to FCC, the current capacity of the landfill is only 3 years, so the expansion is an imperative need that will extend the term of operation to 7 years.
