The families of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) of the Region continue to organize themselves to answer the decisions of the Ministry of Education, which they consider unfair.
The group, which aims to group the approximately 9,000 families of students with various schooling difficulties that exist in the region, has reacted to the start of the course marked by the announcement of new restrictions on special education scholarships managed by the Ministry.
These scholarships, with which families pay part of their considerable additional expenses (in transportation, in the dining room and, above all, in external pedagogical-therapeutic services) have become the center of the dispute between the parents and the attention service. to the Diversity of the Autonomous Community, although the demands go further.
LEGAL AND POLITICAL FRONT
The newly created Platform announces, together with the mobilizations and the awareness campaign, legal and political actions for the fulfillment of the rights of these children, which bind the educational authorities in the obligation to ensure their effective inclusion.
Families report disinterest in the provision of resources (scholarships, personnel, training, programs and material) essential for these students to take advantage of the transit through the stages of compulsory education, and warn that they will not leave a legal tool to explore.
To begin with, they have launched various administrative actions, distributing instance models among the families and encouraging them to claim documentation related to children, as a first step to study, case by case, the resolutions of the scholarships, in search of irregularities.
The proposals, disseminated through the website www.padresporlainclusion.com and the social networks of the Platform, have spread among the affected families in a viral manner.
THE ASSEMBLY
In the assembly on Saturday, the Platform will collect the demands of families to serve as an interlocutor in defense of them before the Ministry of Education.
After a phase of mobilizations, among which stands out the demonstration of the past day 11 in Murcia, which brought together 6,000 people in a tour that concluded before the doors of the institution, the goal now is to advance in the construction of a stable structure throughout the region.
To guarantee the assistance of the greatest possible number of families, they have even arranged a day care service.
The event will take place tomorrow Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the social premises of the Mediterranean Urbanization (C / Rubí, 27), in Cartagena.
