The City of Cartagena, through its Department of Equality, has convened for the first time to see the award 'We are equal we are company 2018', with which we will recognize companies that promote and promote equality between women and men in the labor market .
The purpose of these municipal awards is to publicly distinguish companies with a registered office in the municipality of Cartagena, for the struggle in favor of labor integration and promotion of women in the labor market, and for the active application of the principle of equal opportunities between genders, in their structure and organization.
The mayor of Equality, David Martinez, explained the importance of these awards for "to be able to break the wage gap that still exists between men and women."
The Councilor for Equality has also emphasized another of the actions that will be evaluated by the candidate companies "that take into account the incorporation of women in management positions."
In this way, the City Council will reward the Human Resources policies of the small and medium enterprises of the municipality, in which some or some of the following actions have been implemented and developed:
Favor the equal contracting of men and women during the last year.
The application of measures that favor the reconciliation of work and family life, giving priority to those of an innovative nature not included in the provisions of current legislation.
The measures of labor insertion of groups with special difficulties of labor insertion: women victims of gender violence, single-parent families, women with disabilities among others
Favor the promotion of women in the company;
incorporate women in senior management positions in the last two years.
The existence of an Equal Opportunities Plan or in the process of elaboration in the companies of more than 250 workers will be valued.
If the company has less than 250 workers, have equality measures agreed with the workers' representatives or taken unilaterally by the business community.
All companies, with their registered office in the municipality of Cartagena, may submit their application to the General Registry of the City of Cartagena, located in San Miguel Street, or by any of the means established by law.
The deadline for submission is until January 29.

Finally, Martinez has encouraged companies to participate in these awards "we hope that many companies will come forward because that will mean that there are many companies in Cartagena that meet our equality goals."
The prizes will consist of distinctive trophies, whose delivery will be made in a public act convened by the City of Cartagena.

On the occasion of the Entrepreneur Day 2018, on Friday, November 30, the Business Incubator for women of Cartagena with the Agency for Local Development and Employment, ADLE, represent the City of Cartagena with an information stand at the Faculty of Economics and UMU Company, on the Espinardo campus.
