'We are all capable of everything', under this theme the Department of Social Services and Sports of the City of Cartagena have scheduled a series of activities to mark the Day of Disability, to be held in Cartagena from December 1 to 4.
The activities have taken into account, among others, the values ​​of inclusion, participation, awareness, collaboration and development, as well as the promotion of sport as an essential tool for integration.
The City Council of Cartagena is working on the accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities, adopting the appropriate measures so that there is full access to daily activities and eliminating all obstacles to their integration.
In this regard, the Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes Garcia, explained that "it is widely demonstrated that, once removed the obstacles to the integration of people with disabilities they can participate actively and productively in the social and economic life of their communities .
That is why it is necessary to eliminate the barriers that hinder the full inclusion of people with disabilities in our society. "
The Consistory has established different actions and measures to reach a more inclusive and accessible city.
In relation to this point, Garcia also recalled that "on November 21 the Accessibility Commission was presented, thereby complying with the Accessibility Ordinance that the Municipal Plenary approved, and that has the involvement of many other areas Municipalities such as: Urban Planning, Infrastructure, and New Technologies, among others. "
The mayor of Social Services, finally, thanked the effort of all entities working to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
