Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO) returns to Cartagena with the greatest tribute ever dedicated in Spain to the most "Oscar" composer of all time: John Williams, who will perform on two confirmed dates: December 16, 2018 and March 16, 2019
The symphony orchestra, leader in Spain in film music, will offer more than 4 hours of live music divided into two different programs (Program I and Program II).
On December 16, they will perform the I program;
and on March 16, 2019 the program II.
After the success of his previous tour and touring the main cities of Spain, FSO returns to the port city with a show completely renovated but reminiscent of the origins of the orchestra.
The composer who made half the world fall in love with the soundtracks was the object of the first tour of FSO, a first approach and a simple homage to this great film music that now retake, 7 years later, with much more strength , interpreting a double program that will include a large part of his most brilliant compositions.
True to John Williams and his essence, FSO has kept alive the flame all these years including his songs on all tours, in addition to dedicate special concerts as they offered at the premiere of Jurassic World: the fallen kingdom, giving the baton to JA Bayona, or the tour The Music of the Galaxies that included the best music of Star Wars.
Now, FSO offers the most ambitious tour so far: from September to May of next year, dedicated entirely to the award-winning American composer and conductor, Oscar winner on 5 occasions and with more than 50 nominations to his credit.
The symphony orchestra, leader in Spain in film music, will tour more than 30 cities where it will offer more than 60 performances.
In addition, FSO will debut in the neighboring country, Portugal, where it will offer two concerts in Lisbon and Oporto.
As a novelty, the FSO Tour 2018/19 will include more than 4 hours of live music divided into 2 different programs (Program I and Program II) and will present a new wardrobe designed by the former contestant of 'Masters of sewing', Jaime Suay .
Once again breaking the conventions of symphonic music, all the musicians will appear on stage with a "futurist, transgressive and full of force" outfit, in the words of Suay himself.
THE GREATEST TRIBUTED TRIBUTE TO JOHN WILLIAMS IN SPAIN
FSO Tour 2018/19: Special John Williams will pay the highest tribute in Spain to date to composer John Williams, with music never played in our country.
The orchestra, led by the charismatic director Constantino Martnez-Orts, will perform more than 30 soundtracks, including the 5 Academy Awards and 22 nominees, which include themes from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Memories of a Geisha, JFK , The Patriot, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and Schindler's List.
In addition, FSO will perform other pieces such as "Olympic Fanfare and Theme", created specifically for the opening ceremony of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and turned into the anthem of the NBC Olympic Games;
"Summon the Heroes", written in commemoration of the centenary of the modern Olympic Games (Olympic Games of Atlanta 1996);
or "The Mission", composed for the opening of the news of the NBC television network.
A DOUBLE PROGRAM
As proof of his unconditional love for the music of John Williams, FSO has wanted to perform the best pieces of his extensive work, which has meant doubling the usual program and offering it in 2 different concerts.
In this way, most cities will have 'doublet' of the FSO tour offering one or several concerts of Program I and another (s) of Program II.
The cities that are added this year to the tour will be able to enjoy, according to the date in which FSO arrives in the city, Program I or Program II.
Two balanced programs that together, add more than 4 hours of music that crystallize the essence of the work of John Williams, as prolific as brilliant.
A TRANSGRESSOR COSTUME
Each year, FSO takes its show one step further.
This year, Jaime Suay has been in charge of making the revolutionary wardrobe of the orchestra, which leaves behind the traditional suit to surprise the audience with a new look very transgressive.
A turn of the screw in the presentation of the symphony orchestra that has managed to fill the Auditoriums throughout Spain with children, young people and non-traditional audiences.
The costumes, designed and made by the former contestant of 'Masters of sewing', contain, in the words of the designer, "elements that confer the spirit of strength and style" warrior ", inspired by various sources of different times and cultures , from the warriors of the Xian to movies like the games of the hunger or Matrix, even happening through some cartoons like Dragon Ball ".
As for the pieces, the design has been divided between men and women, but always using "straight lines, pointed shoulder pads that evoke a network armor or fabric that simulates the combat mesh".
The base of the masculine clothes falls in a Napoleonic coat of end of century XVIII, and the feminine one is made up of two pieces with elastic elements that allow to fit better to the body.
A complicated task to be musicians who need to maintain a total freedom of movement, so they had to make specific modifications to some of the instruments, "for example, the need to use wide skirts for heat or the absence of elements in the left shoulder that can interfere for violinists, "says Jaime.
In addition, the designer has "wanted to play with the spectacle and the visibility of the movement of the musicians.
That is why we have introduced sequins in both designs. "
In short, it is a wardrobe that achieves a "dynamic, impacting and groundbreaking effect", a new look for the FSO, an orchestra that exceeds the expectations of its fans every year.
