The FICC continues on Monday with the Feature Films section, inaugurated on Sunday, and launches three of its parallel sections: 'Nouvelle Vague Cycle', 'Murcine' and 'Europa.doc'.
In this second day of the FICC, a total of five feature films and seven short films will be screened in room B of the El Batel Auditorium and in the Ramón Alonso Luzzy cultural center.
Official Section
The Official Section of the Cartagena International Film Festival kicks off its second day on Monday, November 26 with the screening of the short film 'Los inocentes', by Guillermo Benet, at 6:00 pm in room B of the El Batel auditorium.
After the short film, which has already received three awards, will be screened the feature film 'Noches Mágicas', by Italian Paolo Virzì The film begins with the discovery of the corpse of a well-known film producer on the Tiber River, with three aspiring screenwriters the main ones Suspects of his death.
The film travels the streets of Rome at a time when the great Italian cinema is going through its last days.
Next, the second short film of the Official Section will be screened, 'Sunken Plum', a Spanish-language co-production directed by the Spanish Roberto F. Canuto and the Chinese Xu Xiaoxi, making a Chinese transgender woman the protagonist.
After the short film, the feature film 'Girl' will be screened by the Belgian director Lukas Dohnt, who has been awarded at the Cannes Film Festival (Best Performance, Opera Prima and FIPRESCI) and at the San Sebastian Festival (Audience Award at the Best European Film), in addition to being a candidate for the 2019 Oscars for Belgium.
It tells the effort and sacrifices of Lara, a 15-year-old girl who was born a boy, to become a dancer with the support of her father.
Parallel Sections
The parallel sections of the festival begin on Monday with 'Animated Story', which has the youngest as protagonists.
They are special morning sessions for the schools of the municipality, every day at 9:45 in room B of El Batel.
Monday the 26th begins with the screening of 'The evil ferocious fox'.
The 'Nouvelle Vague' series, with special screenings for ESO and Bachiller students, will screen four feature films, from Monday to Thursday, at 10 am at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
On Monday 26, the cycle begins with 'El bello Sergio' (France, 1958), by the acclaimed director Claude Chabrol.
The cycle 'Murcine', a specific section for the filmmakers of the Region of Murcia, starts on Monday at 5:30 pm in the Luzzy with five short films: 'Tengo un cosa', by Pepe Luna;
'Mara, Maravillas', by José Antonio Prats López and Álvaro Robles García;
'Only God forgives sins', by Ana Ballabriga and David Zaplana;
'Cine Social', by Carolina Sánchez;
and 'Vuelve @ mí', by Carlos Campillo Latorre.
The section 'Europa.doc' seeks to expand our knowledge of the European environment beyond fiction, proposing a selection of documentary feature films.
It opens on Monday 26 'Over the limit', a co-production between Poland, Germany and Finland, directed by the Polish Marta Prus.
The feature film has already received the Best New Director Award at the ZagrebDocs 2017 Festival (Croatia), the Honorable Mention at the CinéDoc Tbilisi Festival 2017 (Georgia) and has been screened at the official section of the DocsBarcelona 2017 Festival. The documentary shows How far does the extreme training system that the Russian gymnast Margarita Mamun endured to win gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016?
