Patricio Valverde vindicates the financing by the Ministry of Development of road and rail connections to the logistics areas of Cartagena and Murcia
The Zone of Logistic Activities (ZAL) of Cartagena has today taken a decisive step for its development, with the closing of the agreement between the Autonomous Community and the Public Business Entity of Land (Sepes) for the purchase of the land in the industrial area of Los Camachos
The agreement unlocks the situation of this infrastructure and allows progress in the immediate development of the first phase, which includes the transfer of the Franco Warehouse and the Integrated Transport Center to the new site.
The purchase of the land by the Community from Sepes, which owns the Los Camachos industrial estate, will allow the ZAL projects to be put out to tender and to start the works.
"The regional government has started the best agreement for the ZAL of Cartagena and for the future of the region and the region, which will contribute to the planning and execution of the strategic infrastructure," said the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, After the meeting with the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Pedro Saura.
Valverde asked the secretary of state that the agreement "be signed as soon as possible to start the first phase, so necessary for the freight transport sector."
The future agreement makes the terms for the acquisition of land more flexible, which will be matched to the evolution of the project;
eliminates the premiums for land reserve and sets the price at 10 euros per square meter, price closed with the previous Government of Spain.
The validity of the agreement will be four years, extendable to four others.
The Community will acquire the 65,000 square meters necessary for the transfer of the Franco Warehouse and the Integrated Transport Center within three months, after the signing of the agreement, of which Sepes will transfer 19,500 square meters to the first phase.
In addition, the agreement includes the option to purchase the rest of the land in the first phase, 205,000 square meters, over a period of four years.
Likewise, the Community may acquire in a maximum period of eight years the land of the second and third phase, 3 million square meters.
The premium of 1 percent of the land reserve of phases 2 and 3 will be paid to Sepes with urbanized land, at the same price as the acquisition.
For its part, the state entity will transfer to the Community another 30,500 square meters.
Also, in the course of the meeting, the counselor informed that the construction projects of the ZAL of Cartagena are "very advanced" and that its declaration as 'Action of Regional Interest' is being processed to accelerate its construction.
Delay in strategic projects
At the meeting, Patricio Valverde asked Pedro Saura to study the integration of the rail terminals of the ZAL of Cartagena and Murcia to the Mediterranean Corridor.
The Minister of Public Works also asked the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Development to speed up the procedures for the bidding of the Yecla-Caudete section of the A-33 and the Northwest Arc.
As for the Zeneta-Santomera section of highway RM-1, it claimed the 11.3 million euros corresponding to this year and requested that, in view of the uncertainty of the General State Budget of 2019, guarantee the next two annuities included in the protocol signed with the State.
Valverde regretted that the Ministry "has no date for the tender of the section of the Sangonera-Lorca Mediterranean Corridor."
