The Muram of Cartagena gathers the recent work of Paco Ñíguez in the exhibition 'Night transfigured' (22/11/2018)

The Regional Museum of Modern Art of Cartagena (Muram) hosts the exhibition 'Transfigured Night', by the Cartagena creator Paco Ñíguez.

Counselor Miriam Guardiola presented today with the artist this sample composed of about fifty oil paintings on canvas, canvas and paper "that allows us to discover the recent work of one of the most personal artists of our region, creator of a dream world own in which he submerges the viewer to make him share in his yearnings and obsessions and invite him to reflect on his feelings and feelings ".

Specifically, a total of 44 works are shown in the Muram, most of them being treated, around 70 percent, of new creations made by the Cartagena during the last two years.

To these are added some of the last decade that show the evolution experienced by the artist.

Ñíguez's productions are framed within a contemporary metaphysical painting.

They are works that are full of elements far from their usual functions and that now appear impregnated with a new and magical sense.

Characters in apparent silence, with reflective attitudes, and works in which he uses images that sometimes contradict visible reality and in which fantasy and imagination rule.

Guardiola highlighted "the great role that the creators of the Region have in the Muram de Cartagena, whose programming meets one of the main objectives set by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and that is none other than to support and promote Murcian talent and walk by the hand of our artists to create together a closer and more inclusive culture and a better Region of Murcia ".

"Ñíguez takes the witness of Dora Catarineu, whose successful exhibition was visited at the Muram by more than 7,500 people, and adds to the one that delves into the friendship between Picasso and Cela, which was also extended due to its good reception," he explained. the person in charge of Culture, for whom "the figures of visitors show that the Muram is becoming a space of reference within the contemporary art in our country thanks to a quality programming in which both Murcia creators and young artists have a place as the national authors already consolidated and whose work is a great attraction for the many tourists who visit the city of Cartagena throughout the year ".

'Transfigured Night' opens tomorrow, November 23 (8:00 pm), will remain open at the Muram until the middle of next March and can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17 : 00 to 19:00 hours;

on Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Paco Ñíguez (Cartagena, 1959) showed his interest in drawing and painting at a young age.

Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Carlos School of Valencia, after completing his studies he combines his artistic activity with teaching.

Since 2007 he teaches as an associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Murcia.
