The poetic festival Deslinde has become the great appointment of poetry in the Region of Murcia and begins to have a recognized external projection.
The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, has expressed his satisfaction for the rapid consolidation of this project that was launched three years ago, filling a gap that existed in the regional culture.
In 2018 there were 30 activities programmed in 13 different venues, with 158 participants (poets, editors, teachers, students, stage artists, musicians, among others), and 2,500 attendees.
Both in the quality of the guests and in the diversity of the proposals, the high participation of poets in their program and the wide response of the public have made Deslinde, in just three editions, an unavoidable meeting of culture in Cartagena.
The program has respected the principle of gender equality between men and women, no gender has been represented below 40 percent, already converted into a hallmark of the festival and much of the cultural programming of Cartagena.
In addition to the generational diversity of the guests, the festival is also attentive to the criterion of cultural diversity, seeking the presence of activities and participants from nationalities and cultures outside the Western canon.
The festival is displayed in different levels and serves different age groups, in addition to the general public, so there are activities aimed at: children, high school students, young writers and readers, or inmates of penitentiary centers in the region.
The edition of 2018 has had as an international figure the Danish poet Henrik Nordbrandt, one of the most outstanding poets of the Scandinavian poetry, arrived expressly from his country to participate in Deslinde.
Along with him other known names of Spanish poetry as Luis Antonio de Villena, Vicente Gallego, Concha García, Esther Ramón or Andrés García Cerdán, or the Sahrawi poet of Castilian expression Bahia Mahmud Awah.
Also the list of regional poets has been highlighted and nurtured, starting with the participation of many poets in the tribute to Dionisia García - which became one of the most emotional events of this year's festival - and continuing with the literary presentations of Aurora Saura, José Oscar López or Angel Paniagua.
The festival has also hosted the presentation of poetic magazines such as El Colloquio de los Perros, which has celebrated its 18 years of existence, The Flight of Flamenco, or the publications of the publishing house 21 twenty-one.
A highlight was the concert by Patxi Andión, who has celebrated with us his 50 years in music, presenting his latest work, La hora Lobican.
The festival has commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the poets Antonio Oliver Belmás and León Felipe, with various acts that have taken place in educational centers, and among which we must include the facsimile edition of a notebook 'Loas de frutas', of Antonio Oliver, of which 1,500 copies have been distributed free of charge through the fruit shops of the city.
Theatrical activities include the play Antoñito y Carmencita, by the Teatro El Desván company, aimed at primary school students, or the collaboration with the Títeremurcia festival, with an impressive Lazarillo de Tormes from the company La Chana Teatro.
Finally, the festival has had to delay the two poetry recitals planned in the prisons of Sangonera La Verde and Campo Del Río, due to the strike of the prison officers, events that will nevertheless take place in the coming weeks.
