Around 1,700 schoolchildren, from 16 educational centers, have celebrated the International Day of the Rights of Children in Cartagena with different playful and festive activities, with which they have claimed the fundamental rights of children.
The celebration of this day is an action framed within the Social Prevention Program of the Department of Social Services, and the Department of Education in which they collaborate, closely, the School Centers of the municipality, and whose aim is to value the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as contributing to its dissemination.
The Councilor for Social Services and Education, Mercedes García, has come this Tuesday, November 20, to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to accompany the students in this celebration.
Garcia has indicated that, "the best way to celebrate this day is with a party in style with children from schools in Cartagena.
They have been invited to participate, and there are 16 schools that are present here. "
The activities have begun with a concentration in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and from there the schoolchildren have departed in their festive march, enlivened with music and dancing throughout the entire journey.
The boys have paraded through the streets: Mayor, Puertas de Murcia, Carmen, San Roque, Soaps, Gates of Murcia again and Honda, to finally concentrate on the Plaza San Francisco to perform different activities, "there will have recreational activities, a little bit of fun, celebration and party, which is definitely what it is about ", García concluded.
Once the march has arrived in San Francisco, the children and boys have sat down to take their sandwich while on the stage, ready for this celebration, different interventions have taken place.
One of them has been that of the councilor of Mercedes García, who has addressed schoolchildren to explain the reason for the celebration of this day.
Different activities have also been carried out by some of the attending educational centers, which have recalled the fundamental rights of children: play, food, a home, health, education, having a family, nationality, equality and non-discrimination, and the one of not working.
This celebration is a special occasion for everyone to know the rights of children and remember the need to continue working to achieve the welfare of all children.
It is a day to celebrate the progress made and to develop actions in favor of the promotion and defense of their rights.
The act of commemoration has had the participation of all sectors of the population linked to the social, educational and family environment of the child, since they are responsible for ensuring their protection and care.
